Thivha is a seasoned professional with over 12 years of experience in the mineral processing industry. As a Chemical Engineer, he has demonstrated expertise in operational management, process design, and project execution across various roles. Previously, Thivha served as the CEO of Wescoal Mining, a subsidiary of the JSE-listed Salungano Group Ltd (formerly Wescoal Holdings Ltd). He has held senior management positions, including Plant Manager, Operations Manager, and Works Manager, with Xstrata Alloys (now Glencore Alloys), showcasing his ability to manage complex, multi-disciplinary projects and mining production operations. His career includes notable achievements in minerals project development, plant design, and construction. As the General Manager of United Manganese of Kalahari (UMK), he oversaw the operations of an opencast mine integrated with a state-of-the-art processing plant. Thivha is also the Co-Founder and Director of Thusa Lushaka Group, further expanding his contributions to the mining and processing sectors. He holds a Chemical Engineering degree and has completed a Management Development Programme, underlining his technical expertise and leadership capabilities.
Kutume is a highly experienced Mining Engineer with over 15 years of expertise in mining operations, technical consulting, and project management. His career spans diverse roles, showcasing his proficiency in managing both underground and opencast operations, as well as leading complex projects. Most recently, Kutume served as Head of Projects at Salungano Group and has held senior roles, including Mining Engineer and Senior Mining Engineer, at prominent consulting firms such as Ukwazi and VBKom. His consulting portfolio includes projects involving key commodities like manganese and chrome. Kutume’s tenure at BHP (now Seriti Coal) involved strategic planning, operational oversight, and the management of critical projects across underground and opencast operations. He also played a pivotal role at Keaton Energy Holdings Limited, contributing to the evaluation and execution of brownfield and greenfield projects, replacement blocks, and optimization initiatives. With strong skills in stakeholder coordination and leadership during project initiation and implementation, Kutume is adept at navigating complex, multi-disciplinary environments. As the Co-Founder and Director of Thusa Lushaka Group, he continues to leverage his extensive industry experience. He holds a Mining Engineering B-Tech Degree and a Postgraduate Diploma in Management, reflecting his technical acumen and leadership capabilities.
